Col Frederick P. Marquinez is the Commander of the 179th Medical Group (MDG) in Mansfield, Ohio. He is responsible for Guard Medical Unit healthcare for the 179th Cyberspace Wing (CW) and the 200th Red Horse Squadron. He establishes policies and procedures to deliver medical services for readiness and mission support. He executes the medical portion of Wing plans to support the 179th CW Commander’s vision, mission, and priorities.
Col Marquinez was commissioned directly into the Ohio Air National Guard and the United States Air Force with the 179th Medical Group in 2016. As a Medical Oncologist, he was the oncology subject matter expert for the Cancer Moonshot Initiative in the State Partnership Program with Serbia. He completed Aerospace Medicine training at the USAF School of Aerospace Medicine (USAFSAM) at Wright-Patterson AFB. As a flight surgeon, he was deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, to Qatar in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, and to Incirlik Air Base in Turkey. In January 2024, he assumed command of the 179th Medical Group. He served as Mission Commander for the Greene County Guardcare/Innovative Readiness Training Mission in Ohio in July 2024.
