Colonel Kelly L. Shifflet

Col Kelly L. Shifflet is the 179th Cyberspace Wing (CW) Mission Support Group Commander, Air National Guard, Mansfield, Ohio. As the Mission Support Group Commander, she leads a diverse team of civil engineers and firefighters, communication specialists, logistics readiness, security forces, personnelists and food service professionals supporting our Federal, State and Community Missions.

She joined the 179 AW in October 1987 as a Vehicle Operator Dispatcher, assigned to the 179 AW Logistics Readiness Squadron. Col Shifflet received her commission as a 2nd Lt. in April 2002 as a Transportation Officer in the Vehicle Operations Flight. In April 2015 she assumed her first command position as the Force Support Squadron Commander She served as the Force Support Squadron Commander/Director of Personnel until May 2016, before transitioning into the role as the 179th Deputy Mission Support Group Commander.  She was then selected as the Mission Support Group Commander in August 2023.    

Col Shifflet graduated from The Ohio State University in March 1994 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Education.  In 2004 she obtained full time employment as a dual-status military technician as the 179 Logistics Readiness Squadron Operations Officer and a military assignment as a Logistics Readiness Officer.  While in this assignment she was recognized as the 2004 Company Grade Officer of the year. She obtained a Masters of Military Operational Arts and Science Degree in 2014 from the Air University in conjunction with completing Air Command and Staff College.  She accepted a position as the full-time Director of Personnel in Nov 2012 and a military assignment as the Personnel Flight Commander.  Col Shifflet has served as a Sexual Assault Response Coordinated since 2011 and is nationally credentialed in the field.  Throughout her career she has been selected for many opportunities in which she has exceled; she was the first LtCol to be appointed into the role of Emergency Operations Center Director at the 179th, currently serves as the Community Action Team Director and has been appointed to serve on the Negotiations Team for State Headquarters. Through her position as the Emergency Operations Center Director she has supported in Operations ALLIES REFUGE, ALLIES WELCOME, STEADY RESOLVE, and State Missions; ODRC, FOOD BANK and COVID-19 relief.
