It was standing-room only as over 100 Airman attended the 179th Airlift Wing's spring Community College of the Air Force (CCAF) commencement ceremony on April 6, 2014.

Dr. Dory Dieb, Ph.D., President of North Central State College reflected on the importance of the day in a short key-note speech. Blending quotes from Robert Greenleaf and Ralph Waldo Emerson, he told the graduates that "to serve is also to lead through service. So on your service journey, do not just go where the path may lead, instead go where there is no path and leave a trail."

Technical Sergeant Jason Giffin of the 179th Logistics Readiness Squadron was among the graduates receiving degrees at the ceremony. His wife, Kim, and children Jacob, Koressa, and Justin were also there to show their support for his accomplishment. "I hope that this shows my kids that hard work pays off," Sergeant Giffin said.

But according to Dr. Dieb, the Associate of Applied Science degrees that were conferred during the ceremony represent more than just hard work. They also represent a quest for excellence, a commitment to life-long learning, and a competitive edge in the professional and personal lives of those who earned them.
