179AW First flight with new mission

The 179th Airlift Wing has its first flight with Mansfield aircrew on one of its new C-130H Hercules, Mansfield, OH, November 5, 2013. This particular aircraft still has New York Air National Guard markings but belongs to the 179th. The 165th Airlift Wing, Savanah, Georgia Air National Guard has lent a C-130H Hercules to the 179th to help get all of the aircrew qualified while waiting on additional permanent aircraft to arrive.The Operations Group is bringing new air crew aboard and helping existing members regain qualification with the loaner aircraft. The C-130 Formal Training Unit, 187th Airlift Wing, Arkansas Air National Guard from Little Rock Air Force Base, has sent members to help train during the conversion process.
