Are there any prohibited items that I am not allowed to bring?
Air Mobility Command directs that all baggage be screened in accordance with Transportation Security Administration rules and regulations. Travelers must comply with TSA guidelines for prohibited items. A complete listing of all prohibited items may be obtained from http://www.tsa.gov.
Can a Widow of active duty/retired fly?
No. According to 21.1.8. 100 Percent Disabled Veterans and Widows/Widowers of active duty/retired military personnel. Although entitled to other privileges such as MWR, Exchange, Commissary, etc., these individuals do not have Space-Available travel privileges.
Can I fly if I am 100 percent disabled veteran but not retired from the Armed Forces?

Can I fly if I am pregnant?
According to AMCI 24-101
24.2.5. Pregnant and Post Partum Mothers and Newborn Infants:
24.2.5.1. Accept pregnant women up to week 34 of gestation for air transportation. Women who are 6 or more weeks postpartum and infants 6 or more weeks old may travel as passengers. Infants under 6 weeks, and women who are less than 6 weeks postpartum may be accepted if they are certified to be medically sound by a responsible medical officer, or civilian physician.
Can I take a car seat?
24.2.5.2. Infants and Infant/Car Seats aboard Aircraft. Infant car seats are not mandatory for travel aboard AMC flights. Utilization should be strongly encouraged. When utilized, car seats must meet FAA certification requirements.
Can my spouse travel with me if I am a retired Guard/Reserve that hasn’t reached age 60 yet (Gray Area Retiree)?
No. The DoD reg, Table 6.1 does not authorize Grey Area Dependents to fly Space-A

How do I register?
For NON Title 10 Military Members (Traditional Guardsmen and Technicians)
Provide an AMC Form 140 to the APO for sign up to 60 days prior to departure date. Must be faxed (419-520-6243) or in person.
Local procedures also requires individual to include the mission destination and departure date they want to travel on.
Dependents of non Title 10 members are NOT permitted to travel Space A.
Individuals must sign up NLT the last NORMAL duty day for the APO Technicians prior to mission departure. (Duty days are Tue-Fri, 0700-1730)
For AGR/Title 10 Members:
Members must submit a Form 140 to the APO as above, However Title 10 may not sign up before the last duty day before their leave starts.
Title 10 must show with signed leave forms to include there return date.
Dependents may travel WITH Title 10 members.
For Retired Members:

Yes, as of February 2004 the regulations have stated that dependent's of retired personnel can now accompany their sponsors on domestic flights along with overseas flights.
I am a retired Reservist/Guardsman that hasn’t reached 60 years old (Gray Area Retiree), am I able to travel Space A?
Yes, Per the DOD reg, Table 6.1, Item 35, a Grey Area Retiree (Reservist who is eligible for retirement pay at 60 years of age but not yet 60 years old), can fly within the CONUS and directly between the CONUS and Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, and American Samoa (Guam and American Samoa travelers may transit Hawaii or Alaska); or traveling within Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico or the Virgin Islands. The DoD reg, Table 6.1 does not authorize Grey Area Dependents to fly Space-A. (Reference PASSENGER SERVICE UPDATE DTG: 261800Z OCT 01 para 1.K)
If I am flying on orders, can my spouse/dependent fly Space A?
A spouse/dependent can fly in the category that he/she would be assigned to if flying alone. For example: AGR/Active Duty TSgt Jones is on orders flying to Patrick AFB. TSgt Jones' husband who is a traditional guardsman wants to fly space A as well. TSgt Jones' husband would have to fly Category VI. The only way for TSgt Jones' husband to fly Cat III would be for TSgt Jones to be on leave status (for the duration of the trip) signed up for Space A.
Is a schedule available?
The Aerial Port Operations (APO) coordinates with the Flight Schedulers to determine Space Available flights. The APO will provide a schedule for the upcoming flights when available, however, due to security, these schedules can only be distributed to individuals with positive identification.
What about my luggage?
Baggage I.D. tags are required for all checked baggage, and are highly recommended for all carry-on baggage! Baggage I.D. tags must include name, home address, and phone number.
Except as noted bellow, passengers are authorized to check-in two pieces of baggage not to exceed 70 pounds each (140 pounds total) and 62 linear inches (sum of length plus width plus height). Family members may pool their baggage allowances. Single items exceeding 70 pounds or 62 linear inches will be counted as two pieces. Items exceeding 100 pounds or 80 linear inches will not be accepted!
Exceptions: A3, B-4, duffle, and sea bags are allowed and will be counted as only one piece provided they do not exceed 80 linear inches or 100 pounds. The same applies to golf clubs, large garment bags, surfboards, snow skis, bicycles, fishing equipment, rucksacks, wheel chairs, and/ or musical instruments. All items listed above should be properly packed to avoid injury to baggage handling personnel or damage to other baggage. Passengers are only authorized one baggage described as an exception. The second piece of baggage must comply with size restrictions and is limited to 70 pounds.
Passengers traveling on C-12 or C-21 aircraft are limited to 30 pounds total baggage weight.
Passengers traveling on C-40 aircraft are limited to 2 bags not to exceed 50 pounds total weight.
Note: Baggage weight may be limited due to aircraft type or other restrictions. Please check with the Passenger Service Center for more information.
What determines Space A availability?
Eligible space available passengers are accepted for travel only after all cargo and duty passengers have been accommodated. All flights are subject to change without prior notice. Space-A passengers traveling from Mansfield ANGB to another location will be processed and approved for travel IAW the provisions of DoD-R 4515.13R.

What time do I have to be there?
Travelers must check on status of flights as missions change and seats are not guaranteed. Show time is based on multiple factors and will be determined by the APO; however, normal showtime for Space A is no later than 2.5 hours prior to departure. Passengers must report to building 412.
The APO will manifest all travelers. Non Title 10 reservist must have a current, signed DD Form 1853. Title 10 must report with signed leave form.
Travelers must wear closed toe/closed heel shoes. SANDLES ARE NOT PERMITTED. Clothing must be conservative in nature with no offensive pictures, writing, etc.
